Greater Atlanta. Molly is a 6-month old Great Dane in Sit Up N Listen Board & Train Program. This is Day 6 of her program and Molly went to a shopping center and two local parks for distraction training. At the shopping center she worked on her heel, sit, stay, recall and stairs. Then it was off to the first local park. She encounter many joggers and people walking dogs which are considered high level distractions because they are "moving" versus being "stationary" and the dogs. Regardless of the type of encounter Molly is trained to "sit" until the jogger or people walking dogs move down the trail. Sit Up N Listen manners training for dogs especially large dogs gives the public a positive visual image. At the second park where there is a dog park located we worked at the entrance to the dog park trail. As the training progresses Molly is becoming focused on commands instead of distractions. Her sits are becoming automatic. For example when my feet stop moving Molly has learned to sit without a verbal or non-verbal cue. Same for the heel command. When I start off on my left foot Molly moves out of a sit position and walks with me.
Molly's training program includes reward-based training along with remote collar training.
